The application of statistical techniques to the study of manuscript books, based on the analysis of large data sets acquired through the archaeological observation of manuscripts, is one of the most original trends in codicological research, aiming not only to reconstruct on a sound basis the methods and processes used in book manufacture and their tendential evolution in space and time, but also to interpret them as the result of a dynamic interplay between various and often incompatible needs (of cultural, technical, social and economic nature) that book artisans had to reconcile in the best possible way. The present collection of essays in English translation was guided by the desire to offer a multifarious well-articulated picture of the application of statistical methodology to the various aspects of manuscript production, namely analysis of materials, characterization of book types, manufacturing techniques, planning and use of layout characterization of scripts and scribal habits. The volume aims to present to a wider readership a series of significant papers which have appeared over the last fifteen years, by means of which the statistical approach continues to demonstrate its vast potential.

​In diesem Open-Access-Buch wird die subjektive Wahrnehmung und Bewältigung von Armut im Kontext der strukturellen Einbindung der Betroffenen konzeptualisiert und erfasst. In einer reichen Gesellschaft arm zu sein, bedeutet nicht nur ein materielles Problem, sondern auch die Infragestellung der sozialen und gesellschaftlichen Zugehörigkeit der Betroffenen. Um dem zu entgehen, sind die Akteure auf voneinander abgrenzbare Kontexte in ihrem Netzwerk angewiesen, in denen sie Anerkennung und Teilhabe generieren können. Wer in dieser Lage auf sich selbst zurückgeworfen ist, erfährt Armut als die Zerstörung seiner bzw. ihrer Identität als respektables Mitglied der Gesellschaft. Der Kampf gegen die Armut darf daher nicht gegen die Armen geführt werden, sondern muss ein Kampf um Orte und Gelegenheiten sein, an denen wir zeigen können, dass es (auch) auf uns ankommt. Es zeigt sich, dass materielle Knappheit in Abhängigkeit der sozialen Einbindung unterschiedlich wahrgenommen wird. Die Bewältigungschancen verschlechtern sich, je weniger Gelegenheitsstrukturen zur Erreichung von Anerkennung und Teilhabe den Befragten in ihrem sozial-räumlichen Umfeld zur Verfügung stehen.

Poststrukturalistische und diskurstheoretische Ansätze sind für die erziehungswissenschaftliche Geschlechterforschung von wachsender Bedeutung und gehen mit dem zunehmenden Einsatz diskursanalytischer Methoden einher. Mehrsprachige Sprach(en)biografien können in Deutschland als Normalfall angesehen werden. Für die Sprachbildung und Sprachförderung in der Frühpädagogik ist daher eine Professionaliserung der Fachkräfte unabdingbar. Elisa Tessmer untersucht in ihrer Studie, wodurch das didaktisch-pädagogische Handeln der frühpädagogischen Fachkräfte im Kontext einer alltagsintegrierten Sprach(en)bildung bestimmt ist. Dabei wird ein Zusammenhang zwischen professionellem Handeln, pädagogischen Haltungen und institutionellen Rahmenbedingungen hergestellt. Multilingual language biographies can be considered normal in Germany. For language education and language support in early childhood education, a professionalization of the specialists is therefore indispensable. In her study, Elisa Tessmer examines how the didactic-pedagogical actions of early childhood educators are determined in the context of language education integrated into everyday life. A connection between professional action, pedagogical attitudes and institutional framework conditions is established.
